Alfred Galichon is currently an Assistant Professor at the Economics Department in the Ecole Polytechnique in Paris, where his research fields are Econometrics, Microeconomics and Quantitative Finance. In the Spring 2010, he will be a Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of Chicago, in the Econometrics and Statistics group, Booth School of Business.

His research is motivated by the desire to understand the decisions of economic agents - investment, insurance, marriage, transportation - using advanced quantitative methods. He has co-authored academics articles in journals such as Econometrica, the Journal of Econometrics, Biometrika, and Mathematical Finance. He co-authored Smoke and Mirrors, Inc. Accounting for Capitalism, (Cornell University Press, 2006, originally published in French as L'Information financière en crise, éd. Odile Jacob), a book on the impact of accounting standards on corporate practices.

In addition to his academic research, Pr. Galichon also served as a consultant to various organizations including Goldman Sachs, the French Ministry of ResearchAir France, and Sernam.

Alfred Galichon received his Ph.D. in Economics from Harvard University in 2007, his B.Sc. from Ecole Polytechnique (X97) in 2000, and he is an Ingénieur en chef des Mines.
