Alex Lent

About
I am a PhD student at the School of Information Studies at McGill University, where I was recently awarded a Wolfe Fellowship for Scientific and Technological Literacy. Before coming to McGill, I earned an MS in Library and Information Science (LIS) from Simmons College and a BA in Philosophy from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
Research
My dissertation project is focused around scholarly communication and the history and philosophy of science. I am also interested in academic publishing, information literacy and scientific literacy, science journalism, and science policy.
Teaching
In Fall 2011, I served as a teaching assistant for EDEC 262: Media, Technology, and Education, a required course for undergraduate education students. In Spring 2012, I served as head teaching assistant for EDEC 262 and as instructor for GLIS 651: Humanities and Social Science Information, a master's-level LIS elective.
