About Alex

Hello! I'm a freelance singer

specialising in
vintage songs

from the 30's to 50's, with

accordion, guitar or

jazz trio. We love Piaf, Trenet,

Milva,  Neapolitan songs, and

Classical songs.

I trained at the Royal Academy of Music and I now live in London

with my bassoonist husband and our two rather noisy sons.

Enjoy perusing, and if you have any questions or thoughts, or if

you've found a great vintage song, please do drop me a line, I'd

love to hear from you!

News

Given that any real chanteuse worth her salt must obviously include hours of

lying on a chaise-longue eating grapes between performances, it has come to

my attention recently that there appear to be twenty four hours in a day!

Therefore, we are now able to offer special daytime rates for you and still be

free for our lengthier and terribly chic soiréemusicales!

Diva Express delivers me singing solo, to your home, office or even

to a romantic restaurant dinner for two, with 3 favourite songs you choose

from my setlist, a greeting card, top notch champagne supplied by

French Bubblesand/or a gorgeous big bouquet of fresh flowers from

Angie's Flowers in Sydenham07957 197935.

Please allow 24 hours for diva delivery, but in some circumstances I may be able help you on the day itself, so if you are really stuck and have only just realised it's your boss's birthday... try my mobile please and I'll do my utmost for you!

The fee is £100 for the songs, and £35 for the flowers or the champagne, or

£70 for both.  It won't break the bank, it doesn't take up much time or space;

so that's all jolly handy for busy people. I have had a request for chocolate as

another option for a spoiling extra; more on that soon...

With a special Spring offer, Diva Express if you book before April this

year, my performance fee will be £90.

Perfect for birthdays, new babies, achievements, engagement parties, a quiet

little anniversary together, retirement parties and treating someone special to a

little bit of spoiling. If you're celebrating it, it's worth singing about!

Minigigs

If you are simply too tired to go out in the evening, or overworked and weary at

work, apart from installing a chaise longue and a desert island in the office,

you can enjoy a properly civilised lunch with your Minigigs!

Minigigs provide you with half an hour of fabulous live jazz to chill out with

during your lunch hour at work! I am accompanied by accordion, guitar or

piano. Our fee is £100 per musician for this.

A Plethora of Smashing Songs
by London's Charming Chaps

I am delighted to announce that Cath Haggo, splendid violinist currently

resident at English National Opera, and Christian Vaughan, jazz pianist

extraordinaire, to have agreed to collaborate on our evening! So you know

Charlie Chaplin, and Noel Coward of course, but have you heard of

Norman Long?

Pianist, composer and entertainer, he lived right here in Sydenham.

Thanks are already due to my lovely neighbours who first introduced me to

his warm and funny songs, and to local historian Steve Grindlay who is

expertly filling in the many gaps in our knowledge of Norman Long.

The concert will be part of Sydenham Arts Festival 2012 and will take place at

St Bart's Church, Sydenham on Friday 6th July. Tickets aren't on sale yet but

please bear in mind those concerts sell out quickly.

Dr Had's Jazz

takes place on World Animal Day, Thursday 4th October; with fine

jazz animals Christian Vaughan on the keys and Dave Chamberlain on bass,

wine and frivolity.

Please put Thursday 4th October 2012 in your diary straight away and plan

to come to a charity event that will be a lot of fun to attend! It is in support of

the Dr HadwenTrustthe leading charity for humane non-animal medical

research.

The event is fundraising for the Dr Hadwen Trust. We need a Corporate

Sponsor to put the event on and we also need a venue preferably in

central London to accommodate about 300 people. I don't ask for much!

Luckily, philanthropists and music lovers worldwide will  be thrilled to find

that I have just installed a Paypal Donation Button here, designed perfectly

to accommodate all their noble and secret donations for Dr Had's Jazz, or

indeed for other music projects, all of which shall be
