Music Compositions - Waltz in C Major (2011) | SoundCloud
Written for string quartet and piano. Rendered with Finale PrintMusic 2008. A 19th century-style waltz using much learned material from a formal music theory course on chromatic harmony.
- Walking Forward Into Light (2011)
Written for chamber orchestra. A final project for an introductory seminar on the life and works of Charles Ives. A quasi-Ivesian collage of select Ives pieces pertaining to the idea of life as a journey. A lot of research and song analysis was done in preparation for this piece (contact me if interested in a PowerPoint file of the presentation). Songs used are "Walking," "Forward Into Light," "Slow March," "The World's Highway," "Luck and Work," and "The Circus Band."
- Minuet in A Major (2011) | YouTube
Written for string quartet. Performed 2011 by classmates. Note: piece was sightread. Cellist replaced with pianist. A Classical-style minuet for an assignment for a music theory course on chromatic harmony. Short and joyous.
- 2010 Overture: Up Toward Mountains Higher (2010) | SoundCloud
Written for concert band. Rendered with Finale PrintMusic 2008. My senior project. Co-composed with Brendan Ige, a high school friend. Premiered by the Pearl City HS Symphonic Winds, May 2010. My first piece for concert band. Concept was to create and develop a counter-melody to the Pearl City HS Alma Mater and intertwine with the finale of Tchaikovsky's famous 1812 Overture. Builds to a grandiose finale. Dedicated to the Pearl City HS Class of 2010.
- Deathbed Reminiscences (2009) | SoundCloud
Written for orchestra. Rendered with Finale PrintMusic 2008. My first orchestral piece. A patchwork of musical "scraps," old melodic ideas I never ended up fully developing. Gentle, majestic piece.
- Annoyance (2009) | SoundCloud
Written for electric and acoustic guitars, piano, synthesizers, marimba, vibes, and drum set. Rendered with Finale PrintMusic 2008. Took an "annoying" four-measure riff and kept building on it throughout the piece. Ends violently. My entry into the SY 2008-09 PTA Reflections Program (Theme: "Wow!"). Placed 2nd statewide.
- Acerba Moenia | SoundCloud
Written for solo piano. MIDI-sequenced by Daniel Bayot, a high school friend. Creepy piece with strange harmonies and dissonances, experimenting with imitation.
- Fughetto in C Minor (2009) | SoundCloud
Written for woodwind quintet. Rendered with Finale PrintMusic 2008. Experimentation with baroque counterpoint and fugal styles. Inspired by Bach's "Little Fugue."

Written for solo clarinet and piano. MIDI-sequenced by Daniel Bayot. Short and sweet. Inspired by a clarinet etude.
- Ever Since | SoundCloud
Written for pop band. Rendered with Finale PrintMusic 2008. Inspired slightly by chords to Christina Aguilera's "Come On Over." Might possibly add lyrics to featured duet.
- At the Circus | SoundCloud
Written for mixed winds, organ, and bells. Rendered with Finale PrintMusic 2008. Uses a combination of sounds that I thought would nicely evoke an image of a circus.
- Royal Crest (2007)
Written for brass ensemble, piano and timpani. A fanfare piece that follows a story-like structure.
- New Friends (2007) | SoundCloud
Written for mixed ensemble and percussion. Rendered with Finale PrintMusic 2008. A dainty piece that's meant to loop, as in a video game. Possibly inspired by Pokemon.
- Christmas Twilight (2007) | SoundCloud
Written for string quartet, flute, clarinet, guitar, harp, and bells. MIDI-sequenced by Daniel Bayot. A piece sweetly describing a familial Christmas scene by the hearth.
- Tell 'Em, Tell 'Em (2007) | SoundCloud
Written for jazz band. Rendered with Finale PrintMusic 2008. A catchy little ditty featuring a trumpet. Inspired by the bass line of "Ain't No Mountain High Enough."
- Twisted Train (2007) | SoundCloud
