Hello –

Second Annual Mayor Gerald Jennings Round Robin Tennis Tournament

The Sean – Part 2. We had lots of mixed doubles. In the morning Cara Zell and Len Sippel defeated Sandy Cummings and Al Kostanoski in one semifinal. Ava Charne and Phil Danaher defeated Nancy Kutner and Ray Koloski in the other semifinal. Ava and Phil defeated Cara and Len in the final in a tie breaker. Cara and Len played three tie breakers – one to win their bracket, one to win the semifinal and another in the final.

In the other bracket Janine Robitaille and Lou Ieronimo defeated Marissa and John Owens in the semifinal. Kathleen Ryan and Paul Nabors defeated Lisa Frazzetta and Bruce McBride in the other semifinal. Janine and Lou defeated Kathleen and Paul in the finals.

In the men’s singles, Alan Chen defeated Korey McKoy in one semifinal and Rick Leva defeated Jose Gonzalez in the other semifinal. Rick defeated Alan in the final.

In the afternoon mixed doubles we had a rain shortened event. One bracket was won by Chris Finn and Ed White. The other bracket was won by Wendy Meola and Al Kostanoski. (I would have won because I was just getting warmed up when the rains came.)

We raised $3,538 with The Sean Tournament. $2,180 was tournament entry fees and $1,358 was donations. I thank everyone for participating and supporting this event. It meant a great deal to my family.

Quote of the Year

Dirty lines tell no lies. – A.C.

Community Tennis Lollapalooza

We had 24 players today for the last big event of the year – the Community Tennis Lollapalooza. Everyone braved the cold and winds and had a great time. Thanks for participating. Maybe we should do it once a month next year?

Final Statistics

Out of the 164 possible days, the Albany Tennis Club was open 151 days, 92%. We had 4,500+ people sign in and play tennis this summer.

Next Year

Does anyone have any comments for me regarding what the Club did very well this year? More importantly, I would like to know what the Club did not do well and we can improve upon.

I very much would like to see you all back as members next year. Thanks for the great summer.

Enjoy your tennis,
Ed
