Albany U12 Girls at Mountain Mayhem

posted May 23, 2012 1:30 PM by kcooney@siena.edu

The Albany U12 AngryFirebirds weathered the Mountain Mayhem sweltering afternoon temperatures and the blistering pace of two very good Vermont teams to place 3rd overall. With only one available substitute throughout the day, the AngryFirebirds battled the group champion Milton SC (VT) to a 1-0 defeat before succumbing 3-0 to SVM Fusion (VT). In the other two matches, Albany slipped by Chazy (2-1) and ended the tournament against league rival Adirondack SC (2-2). Thanks to all of the parents and players, especially to our three Averill Park guest players – Morgan, Megan and Leah. They were key on both sides of the ball. The AngryFirebirds displayed great tenacity and endurance in all facets of the game under very difficult conditions. Well Done Ladies!!

Albany U12 Boys - Top Notch!

Albany Unidos U12 Boys go undefeated at Mountain Mayhem! On a beautiful Saturday morning nestled in the Adirondacks, the Albany U12 boys jumped out to an insurmountable lead in the group standings, sewing up the B Division as Champions. Four well-contested matches ended with Albany undefeated; securing 3 wins before settling for a tie in their final match. The Albany boys got the best of Clifton Park (4-1), South Glens Falls (2-1) and Chazy (4-1) then tied New Scotland (2-2). Besides hitting the net on 12 of their 27 SOGs, the boys played their seasons best with excellent teamwork, passing and solid defense and goalkeeping. Well Done!!

U10 Boys Falcons - Soccer as it should be

posted May 14, 2012 2:18 PM by kcooney@siena.edu   [ updated May 23, 2012 1:27 PM ]

The U10 Boys Falcons had a great day at the Mountain Mayhem tournament yesterday, winning all four matches with a combined total of 15 goals for and four against. Besides convincing wins over the First Touch Academy c team, Chazy and Clifton Park, the most notable achievement was a solid 1-0 win over some First Touch B and their U8 players, a team that beat us in the Burnt Hills tournament last year. Besides the actual score results, most impressive was the way the boys brought their "A" game up north and and pretty much stayed with it during a long, warm, sunny afternoon. Good teamwork and excellent goalkeeping, a pleasure for coaches and the parents to watch -- and lots of fun for the boys I hope.

And congratulation to the U10 boys shootout winner, Albany's own Nick Hillengas!

The U10 Bulldogs kicked off their summer vacation together this past weekend in the Rose & Kiernan Clifton Park Tournament. Affectionately known as the “Bulldogs”, our ladies competed fiercely under the beaming sun against the likes of “Summer Select” teams from Connecticut and local squads within the Clifton Park club. Several positive results generated through their quality play, but more importantly was the companionship of yet another outstanding experience these tournaments can provide. Individual Medals and Certificates were presented this weekend in recognition of completing an extremely successful and enjoyable CDYSL outdoor season.

Coach Jeff given the Gatorade Bath after last game, Coach Gary presented the “Skills Clinic Demonstration”…need we say more ?  Get Involved with the Club and Come Join the Fun!
