ALAY, which in Tagalog means “dedication or offering,” is an original student publication, housed under UCSC’s Filipino Student Association.  The publication is comprised of written and visual art, submitted by community members, and produced during Winter Quarter.


>>"ALAY Monthly" is our way of keeping the community up to speed with our events, our progress with the publication process, and for featuring local artists/artistic pieces.



We are also happy to promote other events for FSA, our ally groups, and for the arts in and around UCSC.  Just email us with details or fliers at alay DOT ucsc AT gmail DOT com.


[ALAY's mission/vision statement]

Both as a group and as a publication, we hope to

  • Create a safe and creative space for self-expression
  • Provide tools and guidance for producing artwork
  • Host events that showcase student work
  • Raise sufficient funds to produce events and a high-quality publication
  • Promote social causes, especially (but not limited to) issues within Filipino/Filipino Am and allied communities


Overall, our goals are simple but powerful. 

We would like to “offer” you all the chance to participate in this fun and creative venture, and we “dedicate” ourselves to achieving the points above.
