Well, we have lost 4 in a row and it is mostly because we are understaffed in the ol' pitching department.  A handful of guys are having good years, though, which I will prove once I find the right opportunity to update these freaking stats.

Last regular season game is this Saturday, August 15th at Old Forge.  Game time is 4:00pm.

Still Here And Still Underachieving

Updates to recent games and stats are forthcoming.  In the mean time, the Cards just can't seem to put it all together.  The spirit was there on Sunday, August 2nd, but the good guys dropped another one...this time 9-0 against the Indians.  For what it's worth, the Indians have one of the best pitchers in the league and he allowed only 2 hits all day: a double by Shawn Milich and a single by Paul Thompson.

Good Hitting + Good Defense = Another Loss?

The Cardinals' bats finally came alive on Sunday, July 12th, but it wasn't enough as they dropped a slugfest to UltimateSack 15-9.

Bryan Youngblood led the offense, going 2-for-4 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBIs.  Brian McGalliard also had 2 hits to go along with a run scored and 2 RBIs, and Patrick Jones got back on track with 2 hits, including a double, and an RBI.

Box score and stats updates will come next week.  In the mean time, the Cards take on the winless Dodgers on Sunday, July 19th at Hudson High School.  Game time is 10:00am.

Early Game This Week

A Win Is a Win...and This One Was Big

The Cards got back to even with a come-from-behind win over the Three Cities Baseball Club on Sunday, June 21st.  After getting behind 4-0 after 2 innings, the Cards staged a 2-out rally in the 3rd inning to tie the score, then stole the go-ahead run in the 7th off of an errant throw by the TCBC catcher back to the pitcher.

Defense saved the day, however, as both Joe Cisar and Brian McGalliard made outstanding defensive plays in the 9th inning.  Cisar gunned down the tying TCBC run on attempted steal and McGalliard smothered a bouncer up the middle to save a force out at second.  The tandem also hooked up to stifle what could have been a big 2nd inning for TCBC.  With runners on 2nd and 3rd, McGalliard fielded a short roller and threw to Cisar, who ran down the runner from 3rd and then fired to second to double off the other runner and end the inning.

Statitics updates and box score posting will come later.

Updates are on hiatus until probably Friday.  In the mean time, we lost again.  Carzoo had 2 hits and Hill had a 2-run double.  We blew a 3-1 lead in the 9th and lost 9-3.

Update: Stats and box scores are now current through all 7 games.

If We Could Only Play TCBC & the Dodgers Every Week

The Cardinals continued their funk with an 11-3 loss at the hands of the A's on Sunday, May 31st.  Nothing new to report: they gave up too many runs and couldn't score enough.  In their defense, their 3 beat downs have come against the league's perennial top 3 teams.

Joe Cisar did have 2 hits, but he could only bat in one spot of the order.

The Cards look to get back on track this weekend when they take on the Indians at Hudson High School.  Game time is 1:00pm.

The Cardinals dropped to 3-2 on Sunday, May 24th with a 10-0 loss to Ultimate Sack.  The bats just never showed up for the Cards, as they mustered only 2 hits all day: one each by DJ Costic and Brian McGalliard.

Next game is Sunday, May 31st against the A's at Hudson High School.  Game time is 1:00pm.
