Article Analysis Topics and Schedule
You are required to find your own articles on the following topics, remember articles must be current (within the last 5-6 years) and must be a minimum of 500 words in length. Mrs. Parker in the Library will gladly assist you in finding articles.
Refer to your guidelines and examples for completing the Article Analysis Assignments.
Jan 17th - Rocks and Minerals
Jan 31- Physics
Feb 14 - Waves or Natural Disasters
Feb 28 - Technology and Engineering
March 27 - Cells
April 10 - Heredity
May 1 - Photosynthesis and Cellular Respiration
May 15 - Annotated Bibliography (instructions to follow)

Language of Science Word Parts

On Wednesday January 5th you were given a list of 100 word parts. We worked on formatting  the index cards together in class that day. Each week for the next 4 weeks you will be studying 25 word parts. You will make index cards for each word part and complete a X-Word over the word parts. The index cards and X-word will be graded on Tuesdays and you will be quizzed over the weeks word parts on Wednesdays. The quiz will be matching you will have to match the word part with the correct meaning.
Week 4 Second Semester 1/23-1/27

Monday- Vocabulary ( Igneous rock, Minerals, rock cycle, plate tectonics, compound)- one page wonder due Friday.  Start chapter 14section 1 define 6 terms form section 1 and complete the section review on page 367 1-10.

Tuesday- Review for word part quiz 51-75, x-word and note cards due. Discuss ch 14 section 1, three rock video notes. Word part quiz tomorrow.
Wednesday- Word part quiz, start note cards and x-word for last set of word parts 76-100. Write a story about the the rock cycle-group activity.
Thursday- Share rock cycle stories and finish diagram of rock cycle.
Friday- One-page wonder due,  Rock Odyssey Video, make a chart for the 3 types of rocks.

Week 3 Second Semester 1/17-1/20
Monday- no school
Tuesday- Turn in Article Analysis, check notes cards and x-word, one page wonder due from Friday. I will take late work it will be 20 points off a day. Continue with physical properties on Minerals Lab. Word part quiz tomorrow 26-50.
Wednesday- Word part Quiz, Review 13.1 and 13.2. Complete TCAP Practice Assignment. (work on note cards and x-word for 51-75).
Thursday- Chapter 13.3.
Friday- Discussion and Video

Week 2 Second Semester 1/9-1/13
Monday-Introduction of Minerals. Notes 13.1 and vocabulary for section 1. X word and note cards 1-25 due tomorrow.
Tuesday- Reviewed for word part quiz, reviewed 13.1 notes and vocabulary, started notes on 13.2 Identifying physical properties on minerals. Word part quiz tomorrow.
Wednesday- Word part quiz, review 13.1 and 13.2. Continue with Mohs Hardness scale and Quick Lab. Begin word parts 26-50.
Thursday- Like a Rock Lab
Friday- Review sections 13.1. and 13.2, Mohs hardness Quiz, Mineral Mystery activity

Week 1 Second Semester 1/4-1-6
Monday- off
Tuesday- Off
Wednesday- Intro to Language of Science Word Parts- this will be done in groups of twenty five for the next 4 weeks. Intro to Article Analysis-we will do the practice one together in class. You will get a schedule for Article Analysis for the rest of the year today in class.
Thursday and Friday- Continue with Word Parts and Article Analysis. We will start Rocks and Minerals next week make sure you have your textbook and workbook daily.
