Use the column on the left side of the screen to move around in the class. We are now at HOME.
In this picture, I've clicked MODULES,
because it is the online equivalent of the classroom, and I want you
to go there at least once a week for instructions. Everything else
will be announced and explained there. Skipping MODULES is kind of like skipping class--I don't count off for poor attendance, but you can end up pretty confused.
ANNOUNCEMENTS will take you to a list of
everything I've posted in the column to the right--you'll aways see the
most recent announcements when you log on to the class.
SYLLABUS takes you a copy of the syllabus.
ASSIGNMENTS is where you go to "hand in" work. It displays a list of
the assignments and their due dates. Although this list will remind
you that an assignment is coming up, I encourage you to keep up with
the MODULES, where I explain things in more detail.
TESTS AND QUIZZES is your access to the weekly quiz. I explain the quizzes in the weekly MODULES--be sure to read them before you take the quiz.
DISCUSSION and PRIVATE MESSAGES has two main functions. 1. You'll go there to contribute to the written class discussions, which will be expained in the MODULES.
2. You should also use this space to contact me or other students:
click on the tiny words "member listing", then on the PM button next to
the person you want to contact. When I go to the DISCUSSION and PRIVATE MESSAGES area,
I click "private messages" to see who's written to me. That's by far
the best way to reach me. I don't check my WLAC email or my phone
messages nearly as often as I check the course private messages.
RESOURCES
is storage for materials (like pictures or images) that I want you to
consult during class. I'll direct you to them from the MODULES.
GRADEBOOK shows you your scores. Despite its name, it does not show you your grade.
The grades it does display are wrong--pay no attention to grades in
here. Estimate your grade by comparing the score here to the grading
scale in the syllabus.

As long as you don't click "submit" anywhere, you are just looking.
