AJ's Hoof Care

Natural Hoof Maintenance and Rehabilitation for your Horse

There are thousands of horses put down every year for "incurable lameness."  What if there were an alternative?  Maybe we have not looked far enough outside the confines of our domesticated lives to find the answer.   Statistics from the American Farrier Journal state that  of the 122 Million Equines worldwide:                                                                    -10% of horses are unusably lame                                                                                                                      - 80% of horses are somewhat lame and could not pass a  soundness evaluation.                                                  That leaves only 10% of horses that are considered clinically sound.    With new Scientific research being done on  equine hoof anatomy and biomechanics (the way that it  functions,)  we are better equipped than ever to deal with lameness issues in our domesticated horses.   Using rubber hoof boots as an alternative to metal ones,   and consistent non- intrusive trimming methods the results that are achieved in a relatively short, 6  month time period are amazing.

Here are some recent cases that I've been able to  document -  please keep in mind that these pictures are not meant to be perfect examples, but intended to facilitate learning  by recording  progress and results.  Please check back often, as I will be updating the the pictures and info as the hooves change!
