LEADING INTERNATIONAL NEWS AGENCY TO FEATURE AISS SCHOOL’S DIRECTOR SET TO ARRIVE IN LAHORE TO BEGIN TENURE
Dateline, New York, New York; The American International School System (AISS) will be featured on programming to be broadcast by the Voice of America and GEOTV in Pakistan. The interviews are focusing on the future plans for the school as well the decision to select Pakistan as the first site for an AISS school. Members of the AISS Executive Team were interviewed in both New York and Lahore.
AISS is an educational institution designed to promote cultural understanding and awareness among the children of the Sub-Continent through creative and interactive instruction. The mission is to promote the growth of all students; to inspire, challenge and nurture the students, and their families. By bringing American educational values through innovative teaching techniques to the children of Pakistan, AISS is fostering an awareness that will lead to mutual respect and understanding among future generations. The flagship school will be housed on an 11-acre campus, located in the Upper Canal Bank Hurbanspura section of Lahore. AISS plans to make many positive contributions to the civic life and economic development of the city. The initial investment of nearly $7 million to build the school constitutes the highest single private investment made by an American for an early childhood education program in Pakistan. The construction of the school has also created nearly 300 jobs and the facility itself will generate 100 additional jobs once it is completed.
AISS takes pride in the cooperation it shares with the local authorities in the Punjab province as well as the city of Lahore. “The decision to open our first school in Lahore is in no small measure due to the forward thinking educational policies of Chief Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi. We share in the Minister’s education development plans that emphasize literacy, technology and elementary education,” said Tony Sayegh, AISS Vice-President for Media and Public Affairs. Sayegh went on to say “No one can do it separately. We need to have strong cooperation with all of those who share the goal of a better future for the children.”
The interviews coincide with the imminent arrival of renowned educator, Dr. James Bonnell, to the Lahore campus where he will begin his tenure as Director of the School. Dr. Bonnell will oversee the final preparations as the campus sets to open its doors in the fall. The inaugural class will consist of pre-k, kindergarten and first grade classes. The school is currently accepting and reviewing application for admission.
