A-Gear

The A-Gear, or Rapecannon, is a a flying hovertank that can land and drive on any surface. It’s most defining skill is the “siege mode”, which transform the A-Gear into a stationary anti-air-battery. Packs or lines of A-Gears (coined “rape carpets”) can create zones of absolute air-denial. I-Gears and B-Gears may have terrifying apha-strikes, but A-Gears are the king of damage per second. The tradeoff for high DPS and tough armour is that any A-Gear sticks out in the fight, since it is slow and you just have to “follow the tracers”.

How it plays:

In MMO terms some sort of support class which also can cast negative buffs on enemies. You’re a Team Fortress 2 Turret that can set itself up, with all the benefits and drawbacks this implies. A slow leveler with not many options in this regard. This class is pretty unique to air rivals.

Stat Distribution

Stat Points
Attack 4
Shield 4
Defense 3
Agility 1
Spirit 3
Fuel 3

How to spend your A-Gear s statpoints

- Attack - Primary stat for most A-Gears. Attack increases your damage output, adds a little probability (4.5% with 300 points in attack) and increases your pierce percentage (cancels out the enemies defense).
- Shield - Increases your total amount of shield. Since a high value in defense is much more useful than raw hitpoints, you should only put as many points into shield as you need for your engine (Accounter 4/5: 44, A-X: 64).
-Defense - Primary stat only for defense A-Gears. The more defense you have, the less damage you take from enemy attacks. Especially with Siege Defense, you can reach a point where all enemies will hit you for ‘1′’s, the lowest possible damage you can take.
- Agility - Totally useless for an A-Gear, do not put any points into this, or I’ll punch you.
- Spirit - Determines the amount of Skillpoint your gear has, which you can spend to activate your skills. Since A Gears have the most toggle skills of any gear (Siege Mode, Siege Defense, Air Siege, Ground Accelerator, Camouflage), all A-Gears aim for at least 63 spirit (504 skillpoints), since the skill regeneration rate goes up every 500 points.
- Fuel - Fuel increases the amount of weight your gear can carry and your fuel gauge. Keep below 80% or, if you hate refueling because you are flying around a lot, below 70%.

A-Gear builds

There are a lot of A-Gear build, but every A-Gear engine requires an engine. A-Gear engines need Attack, Defense and Shield to be equipped, so A-Gears have to put points into at least one unwanted stat. Therefore you have to know beforehand what kind of engine you’ll be using (new players should pick the suggestions below) and what CPU they want to use, in order to get the maximum amount out of CPU and gear.

Fortunately you get a free restat at level 53, which you can later use to adapt to the CPU or even change your build. However you can build a level 80 A-Gear without restatting and compromising too many statpoints.

All A-Gear builds have in common that they want at least 500 skillpoints (63 points in spirit will give you 504), because the regeneration rate goes up every 500 points.

  • Attack-Build - Attack builds are the cookie cutters of PvP. Powerful siegemode, combined with a reattack gun and barrier will net you a lot of kills and you’ll grind fast. Invest all spare points into attack. You will tear everybody apart, who dares intrude into the range of you siege. You’ll have a lot of raw HP, but you’ll die very quickly if you don’t watch your back.
  • Defense-Build - Defense A-Gears can tank a whole nation, but grind slow. You will rarely have to use barrier, because you ARE a barrier. Invest all spare points into defense. Use Siege Defense instead of Siegemode and when you have M-Gear buffs and a rough defense charm, you reach insane amounts of defense. This build is not really viable before level 70 and if you don’t have final Siege Defense.
  • Spirit-Build - Spirit builds just keep going. Siege Mode, Barrier, Remedy can be spammed, but this has to be compromised by less attack. Invest enough points into spirit to get 1.000 skillponts, rest into attack. You will hit less hard, but you will not run out of steam either.
  • A-X Build - Pick one of the above builds, but invest enough into Attack (64), Defense (48) and Shield (64) to equip the unique A-X engine and hear you opponents cry in despair as you outrun their arrows in the air and on the ground.

CPU suggestions

The CPU you are using should be focussing on the stats that give the least bonus per point spent. So as an A-Gear you want to focus on Spirit, Fuel and Defense. There are multiple ways to get to your endgame CPU:

  • Lazy way - Up to level 60, use what you can find with addtitional spirit. Then use the level 60 +30 spirit CPU, afterwards the level 70 spirit / attack for attack builds or the spirit /defense CPU defense build. Restat at 80 for the spirit / defense CPU.
  • Killmark CPU - Up to level 60, use what you can find with additional spirit. Restat at 62 for the fuel killmark CPU (Andantino). This is almost as good as the level 80 defense / spirit CPU, so you don’t really have to restat should you ever reach that level.

Armour Suggestions

Schneider Guarder, level x3 - also known as “Goatse Guarder”. The A-Gear armour that focusses on energy. Statwise the Schneider is the least recommendable guarder, however it has the least minimum range and hilarious colour options.

Double Coat Guarder, level x5 or Volks Guarder is the most commonly used A-Gear guarder which focusses on shield. The minimum range on the Double Coat is rather bad (100 m), but it gives the most raw HP of all the guarders within a levelrange. Also, you look like a VW Beetle.

Blazer Guarder, level x8 is the A-Gear guarder that gives an addtitional amount of evasion. Since A-Gears have no use for evasion whatsoever, this guarder is useless, unless - again - for having a laugh. Especially since you will look like a cute turtle.

Grizzly Guarder, level x8 is the defense Guarder. It gives less raw HP than the Double Coat, but the defense bonus is mandatory for defense A-Gears. Even if you are not a defense A-Gear, the combined defense bonus from guarder and selfbuffs make the Grizzly the optimal choice from level 78 onwards.

Revival Guarder, level x3 is the A-Gear warpoint armour. It gives a little more raw HP than the Double Coat and the same defense bonus as the Grizzly 5 levels below. Since the HP boost is comparatively low, it is arguable if the Revival is worth buying. Current cost: 40.000 WP.

Quellease Guarder, level 72 is the A-Gear boss armour. It drops off Ordin in Eopi and can be combined with an Ordin Control Unit for the boss version. It gives the same defense bonus as the 78 Grizzly and a lot more raw HP than the 75 Double Coat, so this armour is every A Gears wet dream. Also you”ll look like some sort of weird alien.

Engine Suggestions

These are the engines you should aim for, unless you are planning to be some sort of crazy engine build. A Gear engines require Attack, Defense and Shield to equip.

  • Accounter 4 or 5 - The two best fast engines until the late 80ies. A Gears are comperatively slow, so you want a good fast engine (Accounter series) to be able to keep up with the main force. Also, good feathering will allow you to outfeather Arrows, even with one of these engines. Higher level fast engines will drop booster time with their level (which doesn’t make any sense but here we are), so statting for a higher level engine will award you with a worse engine until you hit level 82. The Accounter 5 drops off Aralions in Desert of Ardor and the Accounter 4 drops off A-Gear Early Type’s in .
  • Schuvizer CT-E3 - The first A-Gear zero speed engine. Slow engines in general have the highest speed on the ground, so when you want to joyride, get one of these. From level 30 onwards, the Schuvizer engines allow you to be completely immobile, which is great for sniping mobs out of a distance, holding formations in front of a gate or general grinding. The Schuvizer CT-E3 drops off of Golden Sandmalls and Golden Bonebats in Ardor and can also be purchased in the engines shop.

  • A-X - The A-X is the unique A-Gear engine and is a level 99 fast and slow engine crafted together. The boost speed is 450 m/s and the boost time is high enough to sustain a constant 430 m/s, which menas you can outrun Arrows and Hammerheads. Even Edrills with good feathering. On the ground, you will make 150 m/s, with ground accelerator 300~450 m/s depending on the level of your skill. It turns like a truck, but guess what you are? The A-X is an ultra-rare drop off bosses, expect to never get one.

Defense, Pierce, Evasion and Probability

To play a successful A-Gear in PvP it is vital to understand the meaning of the defensive capabilities of you, your enemies and how to come around them.

Pierce is determined by your attack stat (look it up in your “Ammo” tab). Maximum pierce is 45 % with 300 points in attack and determines how much damage you will deal to defensive builds.

Probability is an attribute of your weapon. The base probability across all weapons is betweeen 65% and 100% and can be increased another up to 60% by enchanting and carding. Probability determines the chance to hit a gear and is the counter to Evasion.

Defense is the percentage of damage reduction of a gear, but with a twist:
% Damage Absorbed = % Defense - % Pierce
That means that a gear with 95% defense (defense M-Gear) attacked by a gear with 20% pierce (evasion I-Gear) will absorb 75% damage. The same gear attacked by a gear with 45% pierce (attack A-Gear) will absorb only 50%. An A-Gear with full defense in final siege defense with a shop charm and M-Gear buffs will reach 145% defense, thus becomes invincible, yet totally stationary. The lowest damage you can ever take is 1.

Evasion is the percentage of a gear to totally evade either a missile or a bullet:
% Chance to Hit = Evasion
So a gear with 95% evasion will be invincible to an unenchanted Big Smash (75% probability), but will be hit 50% of all shots by a Massdriver with a total of 145% probability. In addition to the weapons probability, your attack stat will supply you with another 4.5% probability if you have 300 attack.
The mean thing for an A-Gear is that we usually need different weapons
