SK Promotions Brawl In The Burgh – White Collar Boxing Brawl In The Burgh – White Collar Boxing Many thanks to those who attended this event and showed their support to the fighters. Fight 1 – Bantamweight – James Miller (SK Boxing Promotions) v Shaun Keenan (Carnage Gym) Blue corner win by TKO Round 1. Both boxers were quick to get to work in this bout. Miller edged the early exchanges and mixed the attacks well to body and head. The referee stopped the contest after 44 seconds with Keenan unable to continue following a solid right hook to the body. James moves to 5 wins from 5 contests and looks an excellent prospect for 2011. Fight 2 – Light Welterweight – Fred Park (SK Boxing Promotions) v Garry Sproat (Dumfries Golden Gloves) Blue corner on points. From the outset it was clear that Park was looking to press the action in this light-welterweight contest. Sproat had success at range, particularly with the right hand. As the contest wore on the pressure applied by Park told on Sproat – with southpaw left hooks to the body putting Sproat in trouble and inflicting two eight counts. The judges unanimously scored the contest in favour of Park. All credit to Sproat who had his own success when he was able to keep the action at long range. Fight 3 – Middleweight – Shane Thomson (SK Boxing Promotions) v Pawel Kowalski (Carnage Gym) Blue corner on points. Thomson worked well behind the jab in Round 1, but failed to connect cleanly with his right hand. Kowalski worked well on the inside in this round and throughout. As the fight progressed Thomson started to connect with his right hand and this work ensured a points decision in his favour. Kowalski worked well in what was his first boxing bout and with more experience will prove a formidable fighter. This was Thomson’s first fight under SK Boxing Promotions and he showed a massive improvement since his last ring outing. Fight 4 – Lightweight – David Miller (SK Boxing Promotions) v Scott McGowan (Dinky Ninjas) Blue corner on points. (MCGOWAN IS RED’S SURNAME – NOT MAGOO) It was clear from the outset in this contest that Miller was looking to counteract McGowan’s reach advantage by pressing forward and working on the inside. This was an evenly matched contest – with McGowan working well at range and Miller having consistent success with his overhand right and work on the inside. In the end Miller’s success with the right hand told and he ran out a points winner. McGowan – a Thai/MMA fighter making his boxing debut showed his ability at range and forced Miller to work hard for his win. Fight 5 – Featherweight – Kieran Boyle (SK Boxing Promotions) v Jack Ryan (Elite Boxing) Blue corner won TKO 2. This fight was perfectly poised after a close first round which Boyle looked to edge with the cleaner shots – although Ryan looked dangerous with the left hook throughout. Boyle started the second round well, scoring well to Ryan’s body. Ryan unfortunately felt unwell in this round and was unable to continue. A rematch between these two boxers when Ryan is fully fit will hopefully happen later in the year. Fight 6 – Lightweight – Brian Hyslop (Dinky Ninjas) v Stevie Boyle (Carnage Gym) Blue corner on points. This was a closely contested bout with Hyslop getting the better of the exchanges on the inside and Boyle working well at range. Both boxers exhibited their boxing pedigree and in the end the judges favoured the more telling punches landed by Hyslop in favour of the greater volume of punches landed by Boyle. This was a very close decision which could have went either way and this is another fight which looks well placed for a return later in 2011. Fight 7 – Welterweight – Tommy Bryce (SK Boxing Promotions) v Ryan Prescott (Elite Boxing) Blue corner on points. This welterweight contest provided excellent action from the outset – with Bryce edging the exchanges with solid left looks against southpaw Prescott. Prescott had his own success with his straight left hand but as the bout progressed Bryce really got to grips with the southpaw stance and was frequently landing with left hooks and right hands to both head and body. This was an evenly matched contest and Bryce was declared a worthy winner on points. Fight 8 – Lightweight – Hardip Sekhon (SK Boxing Promotions) v David Campbell (Dumfries Golden Gloves) This contest was cancelled at the very last minute. Unfortunately Hardip’s boxing debut will have to wait until later in 2011. Fight 9 – Welterweight – Danny Chau (SK Boxing Promotions / Griphouse) v Luke Walker (Elite Boxing) Red corner on points. (DANNY CHAU TOOK THE PLACE OF DEAN REILLY). After Walker’s original opponent was forced to withdraw from the contest due to illness, Danny Chau stepped in to take this contest with less than an hours notice. Despite facing an undefeated boxer and giving up both weight and height advantages, Chau pressed the action from the outset. Chau landed with some solid right hands and left hooks in the opening round – although the cleaner and more consistent work was coming from Walk See also: where can i buy a torx screwdriver torx security screwdrivers wrench monkeys security screwdriver standard wrench set 5 16 combination wrench cordless tool set screwdriver nut driver 1 4 deep socket set impact drill drivers |
