I spied this wall mural from the passenger seat of a car I was in, and as usual had my trusty camera ready and waiting in my hands, so was able to grab a few shots, and hoped that my auto-focus would do its' job for me. It did, and this one turned out the best, so here it is. We have many murals like this all over B.C. There are some with marine life,wales and such, and some with other Canadian stuff that lets a tourist know where they are, just in case they forget. I am lucky to live in such a beautiful, safe and prosperous city. That said, I enjoy being a passenger and passing through it in a car or bus, but I wouldn't want to live there, and always feel better when we cross one of the two bridges that take me back to the North Shore, to the suburbs, and to low density housing.

Fire Prevention and Safety Event for Children and Families

Safe Kids Greater Grand Rapids hosted an interactive event designed to teach children about fire prevention and safety on January 16, 2009. More than 100 children learned about the stop-drop-roll technique, practiced calling 911 with a simulator and had the opportunity to meet a real firefighter. The event also included a check presentation for $110,426 from Kohl’s. The generous donation was made possible through the Kohl’s Cares for Kids® program, which raises funds for children’s health and educational opportunities through the sale of special gift items. Funds provided by Kohl’s support on-going Safe Kids injury prevention programs including car seat checks, bike helmet distribution and safety events.
