High School Driver Ed and DMV Programs Compared

Driving schools are licensed by the NYS Department of Motor Vehicles.  Instructors certified through the NYS DMV are required to score at least an 80 on the DMV State exam for driving instructors and Participate in an on road evaluation and sign test.  Upon successful completion of the exams a person is granted provisional certification and are further required to  participate in a 30 Hour Basic Course for Driving Instructors, within a year.
