Later (mid 70's), he became Aiglon's third Headmaster. This wonderful military man was loaded with personality and a unique quirkiness, which students enjoyed emulating during our end of year plays. The brisk bounce in his gate (walk), the constant patting on his chest as he grunted and stumbled loudly his unique form of British verbosity.I found him charming, nonetheless, interested in students, and cared deeply for Aiglon...I even enjoyed his comments from Alpina's balcony as he complimented us as to our level of play on Alpina's tennis (basketball) court below. We shall miss this wonderful man. Norman Perryman captured in oil the essence of Groupie, so the next time you visit campus, look for this portrait.
Louie Snyder ('69) Robert Boas, better known to us as "Dirty Birtie", God rest his soul, was a good man. Loved his cheap sherry, but ruled Clairmont, before the girls came, and then became the first Housemaster of Delaware. Fritz Koch also helped to run both boarding houses. Those were good years. Remember him with his hatchet breaking the ice on Delaware driveway?
Louie Snyder ('69) "Here are a few photos of Aiglon's master photographer, during our time, H. Fritz Koch. He had one of the most colourful staff personalities on campus, but most importantly, he was a true friend to the students in his care. Although a humble and modest man, you knew not to cross him...he had no toleration of disobedience, especially if students would break the 1 metre barrier around his well polished VW. If there were only a handful of Aiglon teachers, at that time, who embodied much of the Aiglon DNA and personality, Fritz Kock was one of the best. He now lives in his permanent home in Berlin, and celebrated his 81st birthday Jan 26, 2009. I saw him in late 2007, and the man hasn't changed one bit. Louie Snyder ('69)" | 1970-1979
Memories
I think that Mr. Dyke was one of the most compassionate, gentle yet TOUGH persons that walked the hills of Switzerland or taught the students of Aiglon College. His description of art was intense and he was well loved by everyone. I hope he gets well very soon. Nino Zamero 1980-89
