Concert Dress Uniform Information

UNIFORM TURN - IN
 
MONDAY, MAY 21 - ALL UNDERCLASSMEN DURING THE MARCHING BAND REHEARSAL
TUESDAY, MAY 22 - SENIORS ONLY DURING ALL CLASS PERIODS
WEDNESDAY, MAY 23 - DURING ALL CLASS PERIODS AND AFTER SCHOOL UNTIL 3:30 PM
THURSDAY, MAY 24 - DURING ALL CLASS PERIODS
 
 
 
 
 
 
ALL Music students - band, chorus and orchestra - are required to wear the appropriate concert dress uniforms for performances.  For the 2011 -2012 school year, the concert dress uniform consists of the following:
 
  Men - black, pleated tuxedo pants, cummerbund and bow tie (owned by the boosters) and a white, winged collar tuxedo shirt (purchased by the student).
 
  Women - black, long dress (owned by the boosters).
 
These uniforms are worn for the winter and spring concerts, adjudications, and other performances including the spring trip. In addition, some students are in other musical groups, marching band, madrigals, barbershop quartet, and beauty shop quartet which require a separate uniform.
 
The fees charged for each uniform is as follows:
 
  Marching Band - annual maintenance fee $30.00 (also see the Marching Band information on the AHS Band website).
 
  Madrigals - annual maintenance fee $30.00
 
  Barber shop/Beauty shop - annual maintenance fee $5.00
 
  Concert dress - Women's black dress - annual maintenance fee $50.00
                        Men's - pants/tie/cummerbund - annual maintenance fee $20.00
                        Men's - tuxedo shirt - purchased new $20.00 (there are a limited number of used shirts that may be purchased for $10)
 
The MAXIMUM fees are $75.00 per student and $100.00 per family to accommodate students in multiple groups and/or families with multiple students in the department.
Please note: Failure to return a uniform in good condition at the end of the school year will result in the following amounts being assessed (not subject to the maximum fees listed above).
 
  Women - black dress $95.00
  Men - pants $30.00, bow tie $5.00, cummerbund $10.00
  Madrigals - assessed on a case by case basis as the costumes are varied
  Marching band - assessed on a case by case basis depending on item misplaced or destroyed

Concert Dress Care Instructions

  1. TRY ON your uniform and make adjustments IMMEDIATELY.
  2. SEW hems in dress and pants BY HAND ONLY!   Please DO NOT CUT THE FABRIC!  DO NOT use adhesives, glue, “stitch witchery” or machine stitching.  Your local cleaner may provide this service for a nominal fee.
  3. Men:  Some PANTS are dry clean only; some are machine wash - READ AND FOLLOW THE CARE INSTRUCTIONS ON THE LABEL. Ties and cummerbunds should not be washed. Please do not tie the cummerbunds or bow tie straps.  USE THE BUCKLES!  Safety pins may be used if needed. WERE a PLAIN WHITE T-shirt under your dress shirt. 
  4. WOMEN:  (care instructions will be provided here when we get them from the supplier)
  5. Wear black shoes (and black socks, if applicable).  NO SNEAKERS! NO BLACK SNEAKERS!
  6. BE CAREFUL with your uniform.  You are responsible for the replacement of any damaged or misplaced item.
