Annandale High School will host the second Just World Festival, a daylong event for International Baccalaureate (IB) students, on Friday, March 9, beginning at 1 p.m. The Just World Festival provides students with the opportunity to explore what it means to be part of a global community and make individual commitments to create a just and peaceful world. Annandale High is a Fairfax County public school.

Held the afternoon of Feb. 29 and sponsored by the school’s Rotary International-affiliated Just World Project/Interact Club, the five-hour long event was organized in line with the mission of the International Baccalaureate (IB) academic program incorporated at Annandale, which in part is to help “create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.”

George Mason High School: D.C. Area students attend Just World Festival Nearly 150 International Baccalaureate students from the Washington area, including several from George Mason, gathered at the 1st Just World Festival at Annandale High School last Friday afternoon. The event explored a multitude of social justice and multicultural issues, featuring everything from poetry slams to discussions about poverty. The festival was organized by Ms. Erin Albright, the IB coordinator at Annandale High and former IB coordinator at George Mason.

The British students will arrive at Dulles International Airport today and then travel to Gar-Field to meet their host families.
On Friday they’ll spend the day attending classes at Gar-Field and following their host student’s schedule. Friday night the students will attend the Just World Festival at Annandale High School.
