Roslan ABDUL-HAKIM is a Professor of Economics at the School of Economics, Finance and Banking, Universiti Utara Malaysia. He obtained his BSc in Agribusiness from Iowa State University USA, Master of Economics (MEc) from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, and PhD in Economics from University of Wales, Bangor, United Kingdom. He has served as the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and also as the Director, Institute for Leadership, Innovation and Change at Othman Yeop Abdullah Graduate School of Business, Universiti Utara Malaysia. His research interests are focused on development issues ranging from poverty, income distribution, microfinance, social capital, and quality of life.  At the international level, he has served as a consultant to Arriyadh Development Authority (ADA), Saudi Arabia and also has carried out research for Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC). He also has served as a consultant to Penang Rural Development Authority (PERDA) and has led consultancy projects for Padiberas Nasional (BERNAS), Agrobank, and Lembaga Kemajuan Wilayah Tengah Terengganu (KETENGAH). He has presented papers at various international conferences, and his articles have appeared in national and international journals. Before joining Universiti Utara Malaysia, he was a lecturer of Economics at Sunway College, Petaling Jaya and also at the Faculty of Development Science, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.
