- Jesse Markland had his surgery the morning after the benefit, Saturday Oct. 31, 2009. A surgeon extracted 6.5 cm of the nerve giving feeling to the back of his head so that he may be relieved of some of the torturous pain he endures. For the first time, at least since we've known of the kind of pain he endures, last night I was able to touch Jesse's head. He said, "the doctor got the ouchies out!!!!
