FYI - My impressions below are based upon my initial, solo play-through on Legendary. Not sure if you get the same experience if you just blow through the game on easy. I'm not one to gush about a Halo game. Sure, Halo remains the dominant force on my friends list, but while I'm always up for some multi-player there hasn't been a single player Halo campaign that has moved me since the original title - Halo: Combat Evolved. That all changed drastically however immediately after I popped ODST into my 360. The campaign from ODST is such a departure from the unstoppable 'hero' feel of previous Halo titles, and ended up being the best of the bunch in my opinion. Desperation and isolation haunted me throughout the campaign. I seldom felt adequately equipped to fight my way out of a bind, and failure to keep my head down in a battle always ended in death. Without the Spartan armor and sheer brute force of previous Halo games ODST forced me to rely just as much on my wits as it did my weapons in order to make it out alive. As I made my way through the dark & eerily vacant city catching sight of a Covenant Phantom descending on my position sent real feelings of dread down my spine - which was something I had never experienced in a Halo game before. This persistent fear built an emotional bond for me with the main character which was much more than I had ever felt for Master Chief in the past (sorry there Chief). The open mission structure and the flash back sequences only helped to reinforce just how completely alone I felt throughout the game. Compliment this by an absolutely fantastic music score and you've got a game that feels much more survival horror than anything resembling a Halo title. The campaign in ODST felt much more personal to me than grand in scale. While events where unfolding all around me my priority was the fight was just to stay alive. It was an awesome departure from the 'take on the universe' feel of prior Halo games. Job well done Bungie. You have invigorated my interest in the Halo franchise and I will now be anxiously awaiting to see what you have up your sleeve with Halo Reach.

Wright mentioned that one of the goals for Spore was to give players better and more creative tools with which to learn something relevant about the mechanics of science, evolution and human history divorced from the traditionally dry textbook methodology in use by most school systems today.
