CONTACT 2011

May was CONTACT month: across Toronto, over 1,000 local, national and international artists exhibited at more than 200 venues. The success of CONTACT is, to a great degree, the result of an open call for exhibitions, enabling emerging artists to show their work across the city, at the same time as exhibitions of works by leading professionals.

The Junction boasted the single largest concentration of exhibitions in the city with the work of 26 photographers shown in 21 locations. This year, the festival theme is:

Figure & Ground looks at how photographic images alter perception, inform knowledge, and uncover meaning. From classical portraits of the figure in the landscape to critical views of a ground transformed by human intervention, the works in this year’s festival explore the shifting tensions between humanity and nature.

As always, Agora was a proud participant in CONTACT 2011.

Art Matters - ArtHeart

The art on display for December/January, 2010 is by ArtHeart Community Art Centre which provides children, youth and adults living in the inner-city with visual arts education, programs and materials, free-of-charge. Now Magazine

Woo-hoo! Now Magazine have written us up again! In the February 25th issue, Agora was named in the article "t.o's greenest restos" compiled by Steven Davey. Thanks, Steven and NOW - we appreciate the vote of confidence. Check out the review here.

Good news for babies and their caregivers

We have added changing facilities in the basement near the washrooms so that whoever (male or female) has to change the babies diaper can easily do so. Tell us how it works and if there are any improvements we can make to this arrangement.

Advertising, reviews and newspaper articles.

From time to time, we advertise locally in The Villager as well as Snap. Also, we are reviewed on a number of on-line review boards and invite our customers to contribute to these boards. Recently, the Toronto edition of Metro had an article about us which you can read online here. We have also been reviewed in the Toronto Star, here. and NOW which you can see here. Ultimately, we rely on you, our hopefully satisfied customers, to spread the word about Agora. Thank you.

Wi-Fi

At Agora, Wi-Fi is available and free to all our customers. For the technical minded, we are using a Dlink router, running 802.11g. Our SSID is "Agora" and there is no encryption. We are members of the WiFi Alliance.
