Richard Shuttleworth and a group of volunteers are making a difference at Vanderbilt Apartments.  Richard is a senior companion volunteer with the Land-of-Sky Regional Council and resides at Vanderbilt Apartments in downtown Asheville.  Due to his inspiration and collaboration, residents of Vanderbilt Apartments now have weekly access to fresh foods. Mountain Foods, a wholesale produce company brings a supply of fresh produce and other prepared items such as sandwiches to the Vanderbilt each week.  This win-win collaboration supports our local business and attends to the unique needs of single, community dwelling older adults.  Residents can buy food for one - such as a sandwich or a couple of stalks of celery.
