The purpose of this informal interdisciplinary group is to bring together scholars and students across disciplinary lines to discuss and interact on the topic of "agents, social interaction and emergence." Broadly, we are interested in issues related to complex systems such as organizations, networks and markets. The logic of complex systems and associated methodologies (such as agent-based modeling) have fruitfully been used in computer science, economics, psychology, organization theory, information systems, political science, sociology etc to understand various emergent phenomena. These emergent phenomena include collective decision-making, organizational adaptation/evolution, learning, coordination, cooperation, governance, strategy, network dynamics and so forth. With this informal discussion group we bring together scholars interested in complex systems to discuss their research, to explore emerging areas of interest, and to seek potential opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration. If you have questions, please contact Teppo Felin for further information at first.lastname [at]gmail.com | an interdisciplinary group @ byu meeting since 2008 |
