Below are descriptions of what each link on the navigation contains.

STEP 1 GATHER YOUR TOOLS FOR THE JOURNEY

In this part of the website the students will begin the lesson by being introduced to the four stages of the African Slave Trade. These stages include: (1) Source, (2) Capture, (3) Middle Passage, & (4) Auction. They will watch a video prepared by the teacher (located on the bottom of the page) which will explain each stage in detail.

STEP 2 FREEZE HISTORY

In this part of the website students will be introduced to the concept of creating a "tableau". A "Tableau" is a freeze frame picture of individuals in a scene. Students will be instructed in this part of the website to create a tableau picture in their groups for each of the 4 stages of the African Slave Trade.

Each group will portray or depict each stage and take a picture of that scene with a digital camera.

STEP 3 SHARE HISTORY

In this part of the website students will be instructed to upload the pictures into iMovie or Windows Movie Maker and asked to create a short picture slideshow depicting their version of "The Life of a Slave in the African Slave Trade"

Students will then be asked to SHARE their picture story slideshows to the class in a presentation using a computer & a projector.

STEP 4 BE HISTORY

In this part of the website students will be instructed to further their knowledge about the slave trade & ask to research the activity of the slave trade in their own culture & ethnicities.

Given different web addresses of search engines students will be asked to search the internet for information about the slave trade within their own countries or culture.
