The Workbasket - May 1948 The Workbasket" (originally published as "Aunt Martha's Workbasket") ran from October 1935 until 1992, when it was incorporated into "Flower & Garden" magazine (which I believe is also now defunct.) If you've ever wanted to learn to make crocheted lace, or do tatting, this is a great introduction. As it says on the cover: "Ideas for the bazaar, the home, gifts, spare time moneymakers - with many inexpensive, easily made articles that find a ready sale." Sounds like Etsy kind of people! This is a copy of the May 1948 issue, Vol. 13, No. 8 - 24 pages, 5.25"x8", in very good condition - corners a little bent on top and bottom, but clean, tight, no marks or stains. Paper is a little bit creamy from age-tanning - not at all unexpected at 60+ years old. Articles include: pineapple doilies; bread tray doily; five-point star doily; tatted chair seat; handkerchief corner motif; infants' crocheted sandals; merry-go-round scarf; flower tatted edging (like on those pretty vintage pillowcases you see!); crochet tablecloth motif; leaf chair set (says these can also be used as place mats, or for a vanity set); rose-design pan holder; there are even recipes and instructions on doing glass etching!
