You just purchased a geocoin, and you love it SO much that you don't want it to be stolen or go missing.
But you also want it to do what they are meant to do:
TRAVEL
So what do you do? Make a proxy traveler, of course! There are many ways to do this,
but these are my favorite methods because the front/back of the geocoin are displayed.
Using a poker chip (or similar object) has the same feel as a coin, and is very affordable.
There are free alternatives out there, but they aren't as representative of your geocoin as these are.
This homepage shows you how to create the print,
then you'll have finishing options to choose from.
Let's use this coin as our example.
The first thing you need to do is get a straight shot of the front and back of the geocoin.
This way it doesn't look distorted when you print it off.
If you make the geocoin 1.5 inches (38.1mm),
you can fit FOUR geocoins (front & back) onto a 4" x 6" (101.6mm x 152.4mm) print.
You can make the coins bigger or smaller, depending on what you want to do.
As I said, you can make them any size you wish:
I use PhotoShop, but any editing software should suffice.
It is IMPORTANT you confirm the geocoin dimensions are correct before printing.
(You also need to make sure no cropping occurs)
If using a poker chip, I recommend one with a decent weight & thickness.
(These vary in price. The more you buy; the cheaper they are per piece)
After printing them, you are ready to cut them out and attach them.
(I print them on photo paper matte finish. You can choose how/where you print yours)
You have several attachment options, depending on how you want to finish the proxy (links in sidebar).
Note: you could also use a wooden nickel, washer or other similar object instead of a poker chip.
Lastly, if you plan ahead, layout several proxy options on a single print to save time and money:
