The Oddfellows Arms, Aylesbury I, with my family, used to live in this pub - when it was still a pub - back in 1983. My old bedroom window is up there in the attic! The council wanted to knock this building down (like they have so many of the other old buildings in the town centre) but it was Listed, and therefore protected. So it was sold off by the brewery and today is a Domino's Pizza franchise. Oh well, at least it is still there! The stable block can be seen to the right. The pub had a reputation for being haunted, which was confirmed by the people I spoke to who now work for Domino's! I used to hear footsteps coming up the stairs but no-one was there (Could be creaking, it's an old building) and the lights would switch themselves on and off (could be the wiriing - it's an old building!) I told them about the cellar, which had tunnels (now bricked up) leading to the town centre. Aylesbury was an important town in the English Civil War, being a Parliamentarian stronghold The small window on the first floor was my sister's bedroom. I can't believe this was ever a pub, the building is so small! I'm sure it was bigger when I lived there.. I remember my Sister and I playing in the really deep snow in the cinema car park across the road. The same cinema in which I went to see Ghostbusters! And erm, Electric Dreams. I went to Elmhurst Middle school, and have very fond memories of the whole time I spent in Aylesbury, even though it wasn't very long. Hell pizza
NZ chain has a few UK franchises now - one's just opened on Lavender Hill, bringing the number of pizza places to 8 I think. It's a good version of the Pizza Hut/Dominos end of the market. A bit salty though.
