Ear hair scissors - Joewell thinning shears - Fiskars sewing scissors Ear Hair Scissors
current hair I haven't had my hair professionally cut in months; the last time I had it cut it was Really Short, and I looooooved it, and since then it's been growing out in ways that still looked perfectly fine, so I didn't really feel aggravated enough to want to spend money to get it cut. Finally I bought a pair of hair-trimming scissors (the kind that thin hair instead of cutting straight across) so I could snip my bangs a little, and trim over my ears, and I've just been doing that. It's oddly liberating. I do enjoy getting my hair professionally cut, and I love when it looks posh (at whatever length) due to some pro-stylist's interventions. But this other thing, of snipping and trimming and futzing with it here and there feels very DIY and self-sufficient and fun. (I've always done the color myself.) If it turns into a strange mullet I will get some help with it, though. :) Day 81 - Once bitten...
Growing up my mom would cut my hair. Her University roomate was a hairdresser and taught her the craft. Once when I was little she cut my ear with the scissors and I never forgot it. Years later when Julie and I were dating my mom taught her how to cut hair. To this day I still get nervous when the scissors come out. My wife has a perfect track record so far. :) Strobist info: 580 EXII at camera right via reflective umbrella.
