A little about me...
I am a fourth year Environmental Management & Protection major from San Diego, California. As a big city girl, I chose Cal Poly because I needed a change! I love the small town feel of San Luis Obispo (without being in the middle of nowhere). Throughout my years at Cal Poly I have served as the Vice President for AEP and President for part of last school year. I serve on the College Based Fees Committee on the College level as well as on the Natural Resources Department level. I enjoy knowing that I have a vote in how our college spends its money. I have attended the state AEP Conference for the last two years. I am a sister of Delta Delta Delta Sorority on campus. I was a WOW Leader last year as well. I was a Girl Scout for 12 years, completed my silver award, and hope to have a troop of my own one day. I am currently working on my senior project with friend and fellow officer Amy Keate, and our other good friend and student, Danielle Patterson. We will be restoring a 250 feet piece of Oceano Dunes. Outside of my studies, I enjoy gymnastics, the beach, and making collages and scrapbooks. My career goals include becoming GIS certified, and possibly pursuing Environmental Valuation, a Master’s in Public Policy, or working with FEMA after disasters throughout the United States.

Concentration: Individualized- Impact Mitigation Strategies and Policy
Minors: Ethnic Studies
A little about me...
I am a senior Environmental Management and Protection major, with a minor in Ethnic Studies and concentration in Impact Mitigation Strategies and Policy. I was born in Salt Lake City Utah but moved to California when I was two years old. I consider myself a Californian and cannot imagine living anywhere else. When first applying to colleges originally I had wanted to attend Humboldt State but after attending Cal Poly’s Open House, I knew that I was meant to be a Mustang (which oddly enough is my favorite animal). Once arriving on campus I wasted no time getting involved: I started at as the Vice President of Fremont Dorms and worked my way from there. I now work for the Natural Resource Management Department and have been heavily involved in department activities such as organizing the annual banquet and creating the department newsletter. It seems the more involved and busier I become here at Poly the more I enjoy myself. I encourage everyone to get involved and voice their opinions in order to make the most of their experience here in SLO. I am excited about the upcoming year since I have started my senior project. Myself, Suzie Cuff and Danielle Patterson will be restoring a site located in the Oceano Dunes, so wish us luck! When I can find time to breathe and take a break I enjoy horseback riding, hiking, reading cheesy romances and hanging out with friends. After I graduate I plan to hopefully work for the NRCS and then it is off to graduate school for me!

Major: Environmental Management and Protection
Concentration: Environmental Policy and Analysis
A little about me...
I am a third-year Environmental Management and Protection major, originally from Sacramento, California. I attended a Humanities and International Studies Program in high school. I was on the varsity soccer team for two years and was an active voice in our high schools student government for two years as well. I was a Girl Scout for 13 years and am now a lifetime member. My first experiences with the outdoors were through Girl Scout backpacking trips, camping, canoeing, and of course, Girl Scout Camp. I love the out-of-doors and participating in any and all activities taking place outside. I completed my Girl Scout Silver, Rose and Gold Awards throughout high school. I have carried my love of the environmental, community service and leadership into my college career. I am a member of our Student Community Services at Cal Poly and am a new co-director of the Language Outreach Opportunity for Kids program, a foreign language after-school program for local elementary schools. I have attended the College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Science (CAFES) Student Council meetings as a representative for the Association of Environmental Professionals (AEP), gaining insight to the organization behind the departments within the College of Agriculture at Cal Poly. And I am continuing my involvement in AEP as the secretary officer for the school year of 2009-2010. I thoroughly enjoy this club for it gives me a sense of professionalism while furthering my education.
Treasurer: Colin McKim; cmckim@calpoly.edu
Major: Environmental Management and Protection
Concentration: Watershed Management and Hydrology
Minors:Water Science
A little about me...
Growing up amidst the virgin chaparral hills of the Escondido Creek watershed in San Diego County imbued Colin with a deep appreciation for the land of Southern California. He developed a special interest in plants at an early age and began his studies at Cal Poly as a horticulture major. But recent issues in land and water management in the West led him to reassess his career goals after two years. Changing majors to environmental management with a concentration in watershed management and hydrology allowed him to better pursue his interest in environmental science, both as a whole and as part of the factor that ties it all together - water. The major allows education in pure science along with the policy aspects encountered in the field, an interdisciplinary approach valuable in today's developing society.

Major: Environmental Management and Protection
Concentration: Individualized- Sustainable Forestry Practices
A little about me...
I am a fifth year ENVM senior having transferred from a community college in southern Orange County. After numerous experiences enjoying the outdoors and traveling abroad, I developed an interest in managing natural resources and a desire to learn the inter-workings of natural systems. I am looking forward to finishing school this spring having concentrated in sustainable forestry practices. I spent ten weeks this past summer at Swanton Pacific Ranch where I realized an interest in forestry as a result of intensive learning in Cal Poly's own redwood forest. With varying interests and future goals, I am excited for what the future holds whether it be continuing my education at a grad school or just working out in the woods somewhere.
Agricultural Council Representative: Eric Hughes; wigless83@yahoo.com
Major: Environmental Management and Protection
Concentration: Individualized
Minors: Water Science or Land Rehabilitation (Maybe both!)
A little about me...
My name is Eric Hughes and I’m currently entering my senior year at Cal Poly as an Environmental Management & Protection major. I chose this major because my passion is to promote the well being of others through the preservation of our home; earth! My goal at Cal Poly is to learn the skills necessary to enter the work force as either an environmental consultant or some related field. I personally enjoy working outside with my hands along with some office duties, so if I could find a job that incorporates both I would be happy. I consider myself to be a serious and somewhat competitive student because I pay good money to come to one of the best schools in California. Also, in the future I would like to attend a prestigious graduate school for environmental or earth science. My goal as a member and AG council representative for AEP is to establish a club that promotes networking and career advancement for our members. Outside of school I’m married with three kids which keep me youthful and motivated to do something better with my life. I enjoy most outdoor activities such as hiking, fishing, camping, and snowboarding etc. In the past I have served as treasurer for the environmental club and dedicated much of my time volunteering for the Honor Society at Las Positas Junior College in Livermore. I look forward in getting to know all the current and future members of AEP, because together we can make a difference.
