    Meeting 6 - Thurs. Nov. 19 6:00 pm UC Bayou City Room (Rm 202)
    For the last meeting of the semester AED will be having a Princeton Review MCAT / verbal workshop. There will be free food, drinks and prizes.

    During the meeting we will be holding the Princeton Review MCAT prep course auction. The winner of the auction is awarded a Princeton Review certificate good for one course, the certificate is valid until 12/31/2010.
    The winner of the last auction saved $650!


    Volunteering at the Beacon - Sun. Nov. 22 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

    The Beacon is a homeless day shelter that offers facilities for the homeless of Houston to utilize. We should be in the kitchen helping to prepare lunch. If you would like to volunteer, please respond with your name. We will meet at the facility which is located at 1212 Prairie Street Houston, Texas 77002 at 8:45 am. It's early but you premeds can handle it!

    Great American Smokeout - Thu. Nov. 19 10:00-2:00
    This is a national lung cancer awareness day, and CCC is hosting a BBQ in front of the M.D. Anderson Library to kickoff this educational event for students on campus. See attached for more information.

    Summer Surgery Program

    The Michael E. DeBakey Summer Surgery Program encourages the development and interest of well-qualified young students who are considering a medically oriented career. The program is designed to provide students with an opportunity to work with faculty, surgical residents, medical students, and nurses in our various teaching hospitals.

    The application deadline is Jan. 15, it requires 3 letters of recommendation, resume, transcripts and a personal statement. So start working on it now! Don't let this incredible opportunity pass by.

  • Thursday's Meeting / Project Cure / Bake Sale
    Future Doctors

    Meeting - Thursday Nov. 5th 6:00 pm UC Bayou City (Rm. 202)

    The Associate Director of Admissions for Ross University (in the Caribbean), Tiffany Ciolek, will speak about the school and their medical program.

    There will also be an auction for an MCAT prep course from Kaplan Free food and drinks!


    Project Cure Volunteer Event - Friday, Nov. 6 12:00-2:00

    Project Cure is a non-profit organization that receives, packages, and distributes donated medical instruments and supplies to developing countries. Our job will be to sort and package medical supplies.

    Location: Project CURE Sorting/Distribution Center
    10250 Westheimer, Houston, TX 77042

    There will be NO carpool.

    If you would like to volunteer, please email AED and fill out the volunteer application at http://www.projectcure.org/volunteer/volunteer-application if you haven't done so.


    Bake Sale - Nov. 11th 10:00 - 3:00
    If you would like to help AED at the next bake sale you may do so by donating items and/or donating your time.

    Please donate individually wrapped baked goods to be sold for $0.50, canned Coca-Cola products, bottled Dasani water, hot dogs, hot dog buns or chips for nachos. If you intend to donate an item, please reply and let us know what.

    Reply to let us know when you would like to work at the bake sale, shifts are one hour long from 10 to 3.
