TV THEMES

[Pictures] [Playlist] [Listen]

The Adventures of Parsley play the best in cult 60's and 70's film & TV themes to anyone that invites them, including parties, unusual venues and occasionally TV conventions.

The band perform in costumes, usually the ones they had specially made for them so they could look like the puppets from Gerry Anderson TV shows including Thunderbirds and Captain Scarlet. They have played in Portmeirion (the 'Prisoner' village), and at several Gerry Anderson fan events including Thunderbirds and Space:1999 conventions. They've taken their act to Europe and have played at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

New versions of shows such as Doctor Who and Captain Scarlet, and of original series in DVD box sets, are now exciting old
and new audiences. The Adventures of Parsley continue to bring the great theme tunes from the shows to people of all ages.

Influences

Of course the greatest theme and TV music writers were Edwin Astley (Danger Man, Randall & Hopkirk and others), Jerry Goldsmith (Man from UNCLE, Planet of the Apes), John Williams (Lost In Space, Time Tunnel i.e. before Star Wars), Alan Hawkshaw (Dave Allen, Grange Hill), Albert Elms (The Prisoner incidental music, Man In A Suitcase incidental music), John Barry (James Bond, The Persuaders), and the best of all Barry Gray. Gray backed Dame Vera Lynn and also wrote the music to the best Gerry Anderson TV shows, including the greatest theme ever written - UFO.
Sounds Like Early James Taylor Quartet, The Times, and any bass/guitar/Hammond/drums combo that played instrumentals/TV themes!
