My old 1970 Buick Skylark had a busy day today. I got her a new tag and since I was out applying the little sticker, I felt I would top off her levels, start her up, and take her for a little drive. It's been a while since she's been out and she was screaming to go. It was in the lower 40's and it's been around a week since I started it last, but it didn't take much to get her started. Later in the afternoon I was inside playing around on the Internet when Merita told me a guy and his son knocked on our front door. I went outside to see a guy and his son admiring this marvel of American engineering. He wanted to find out if I was willing to sell him the car. He wanted to give it to his son so he can restore it to a faux GS. I told him I couldn't possibly give her up, "she's like an older sister to me." He seem to have a lot of respect for that. He said, "It's good to see someone else who's proud of his classic Buick." I'm actually quite interested to see if there is a group of classic Buick owners in the Lawton, Oklahoma area. That would be a group I would like to be apart of. All information I can get on the best way to take care of and restore my Skylark the better. Computer geeks typically don't translate as gear heads. I loved driving Goldie so much earlier today and all the attention she got, I decided to drive her to work. The seat isn't as comfortable and this car doesn't have all the comforts of my LeSabre (e.g. a working heater), but she is so much fun to drive. I am, however, very protective of this car. I love driving her and I know its good for her, but while on the road I fear something bad will happen. I'm afraid of two things: overheating and the loss of oil pressure. Anything else I can handle; just as long as the engine block stays intact.
