The Departments of Economics of Bilgi University, the Ecole Polytechnique, and the THEMA at the University of Cergy-Pontoise with the financial support of the Ile-de-France Regional Council and of the ADRES announce the workshop:
Advances on Approval Voting
Objective: Following the publication of the "Handbook on Approval Voting" (Springer, Eds. Laslier and Sanver), this workshop presents the most recent advances on voting theory and more specifically on approval voting. This voting rule allows voters to vote for as many candidates as they wish, and the candidate with the most votes wins the election. Approval voting gives more flexibility to the voter, and may prevent the so-called "wasted vote effect" (not voting for a candidate because one expects that he has no chance of winning the election). New techniques give us a precise and accurate description of the different consequences of employing such a voting rule. The workshop gives an overview of the tools issued from different scientific areas such as political economics, game theory, experimental economics and political science.
