Oil on canvas, 2010, 400mm by 520mm. This painting shows a plane by the most amazing plane maker around Bill Carter. It also shows a small violin plane and a no 2 sized english pattern smoother I made myself (the original can bee seen in my fine tools set). In terms of the oil painting itself, I was interested in developing my skills in representing objects in a photo realistic style. In the process of doing this I have learnt a great deal about the craft of painting. It is a very labourious technique though, so I don't think I will be doing many more like it and so I don't really plan on selling this one.

The basic set of 12 chasing tools that I have my students make at workshops. Sizes range from small at 3-1/2 inches long to large at 5 inches long. There are a lot of line/forming tools, 2 undercut tools, a pitch chisel, centerpunch, small planisher, and one flat shape.
