About Me

Where I talk about me.

About Me

Name: Noora, but you can also call me Adelate. Really. It's okay. :) That's a picture of me right there on the lower right. :)

Birthday & age: 10th of May, 1983, which means I'm 23. Stop paying attention for a second, and it's all done, man, I'm tellin' ya. [g]

Lives in: Seinäjoki, Finland.

Studies: Library and information sciences in Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences.

Brothers or sisters: One sister, called Niina. She just turned 21 last September.

Parents: Mom and dad, their names (respectively) Varpu and Heikki. They're divorced, but get along.

Favorite food: Pasta, different kinds of salads.

Hobbies: Watching TV, different sorts of computer stuff, movies, books, writing. I'm also on LiveJournal a lot (which I suppose falls under the "computer stuff" category, but I wanted to mention it separately).

Works: Nowhere at the moment - the studies are taking up enough of my time as it is, thank you!

Favorite color: Pink, orange, red.

Loves most: Domesticity. [laughs] No, really. And my family, my friends and my cat Stella. (Picture on the left. :)) And recently? Driving!

Hates most: Cynicism, homophobia (all kinds of discrimination, actually, especially discrimination that's rooted in ignorance, which is most of it).

Favorite TV show: I have to go with an alphabetical list because I have too damn many shows that I love!

  • Bones - though I'm horribly behind in my watching.
  • CSI - though what is up with you-know-which couple?! I didn't need that in my show. :(
  • CSI: Miami - don't laugh, but I love love love Horatio Caine!
  • CSI: NY - I'm not sure what's been going on this season - maybe it's Mac's new girlfriend that's annoying me - but I liked the second season better. Maybe it'll get better still, though. It's not like it's a hardship watching this every week.
  • Desperate Housewives - like Bones, I'm terribly behind in watching this show, but it's really good!
  • Doctor Who - oh, this show is love. The Doctor and Rose are so freaking cute, and now that Captain Jack has shown up, it's even better!
  • Due South - seriously, one of the best shows ever.
  • Eureka - this show is completely underrated! Jack Carter rocks my socks.
  • Everwood - I know it's been cancelled and that the last season was a little bit eh, but I still loved that show.
  • Gilmore Girls - season six was disappointing, but season seven so far is rocking! At least in my opinion. :))
  • Grey's Anatomy - this show just gets better and better! Though I'm still bitter about a certain Mr. Duquette... SIGH.
  • House - Hugh Laurie is so freaking awesome. The current events are annoying me and the beginning of season three was just weird, but I do love this show.
  • Lost - there's one sentence that I feel sums up this show... What the hell is going on?!
  • NCIS - this is a new love, and such an awesome one at that. They all rock!
  • Numb3rs - those Eppes brothers love each other, and all the characters are just so much fun that even though the cases may be boring sometime, it's a joy to watch.
  • Prison Break - best watched as a marathon, I think, but it's so exciting!
  • Psych - this show is funny!
  • Stargate Atlantis - my other favorite show. My love for Rodney McKay is neverending. :D
  • Stargate SG-1 - I still miss Jack, but it's still oh so good! I wish they change their minds about cancelling it.
  • Supernatural - I'd say this is probably my favorite show at the moment. Dean and Sam are just so awesome. Of course season one had a character that's now missing who'd make the show even better (frankly Ellen and Jo can't replace them by a long shot - in fact, I completely hate Jo...) but I guess there's nothing to do about that.
  • The O.C. - I tried to not watch it, but I'm just too damn curious. Besides, how could I not watch when Chris Pratt is in it?! :))
  • Torchwood - oh my GOD, there are no words to describe how much I love this show. It's human, and there's girlkissing and boykissing and heterosexual kissing and they don't make a big deal of it in any case, and it's just awesome. Of course it doesn't hurt that I have a big slutty crush on John Barrowman, either.
  • Veronica Mars - this show is love, man. I love the relationship that Veronica and her dad have, and Logan makes me gleeful. :)
  • Weeds - a great show that we're finally getting. It's actually much better than I'd anticipated, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan was on it twice! I have a big slutty crush on him as well. ;D (Sadly the link doesn't work if you're outside of the U.S., so here's a link to the TV.com portion on it.
  • West Wing - I've still only seen season one, but it's so good.

Favorite movie: Playing by Heart is my favorite, but I love so many more movies, too. I'm especially a sucker for fun, light movies - romantic comedies and such.

Favorite actor: I can't name a favorite, though at the moment Jeffrey Dean Morgan (picture on the right) and John Barrowman are high up on my list. As are Jensen and Jared, but... yeah. I promise I won't go all list-y on you guys again.

Favorite actress: Probably Angelina Jolie.

Favorite song: There's no way to decide on my favorite song, but here are a few:

  • Glenn Miller - Moonlight Serenade (a.k.a. the most romantic song in the whole wide world)
  • Kansas - Carry On Wayward Son (I heard this in a Supernatural episode and it's just so good!)
  • The White Stripes - Jolene (oh come on. It's a guy singing to a girl not to take his guy away; how could I resist?)
  • there are more, many many more, but that'll do for now. :)

Favorite artist(s): Oh my god, I can't list everything I love here. I love a lot of music, and like almost all sorts except for the heaviest metal and the teeniest techno. Other than that, I will listen to pretty much anything from *NSYNC to Glenn Miller and Michael Bublé and from Backstreet Boys (picture above :)) to AC/DC.

Favorite website: LiveJournal.com. This is where my friends are, man.

Favorite book: Travis Hugh Culley's The Immortal Class, J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings, all the Harry Potter books, anything by Robin Hobb, Helen Fielding's Bridget Jones's Diary.

Last book read: Lauren Weisberger: The Devil Wears Prada

Currently in CD player: I believe it's Never Gone by the Backstreet Boys, The War of Women by Joe Firstman and Shotgun by Tony Lucca.

Languages spoken: Finnish (mother tongue), English (fluent), Swedish (so and so). I've also taken two courses of French, but... I remember about two words of the whole thing, and currently I'm taking Spanish. :)
