Joe Gerstle is a respected authority on food aid policies.   He brings to the task 31 years of field experience in implementing food aid programs and in staff training, both in headquarters and worldwide.  For the majority of this time Joe worked for CRS on their food aid program.  He has conducted more than 20 commodity management training courses for CRS and other international development and relief agencies and now 13 for the Association.  His comprehensive grasp of the USG regulations and procedures governing food aid has won him the respect of USDA and USAID officials--many of whom have chosen to enhance their own expertise in the field by participating in his training courses.
