ECIAD Bumper (2006) Approx. 1 min. and 19 sec.

As an assignment in my Motion Graphics class, we were to create a short promotional video for Emily Carr Institute of Art + Design + Media. I Began by capturing footage of ceiling lamps and a wall with a fluorescent light turning on. From there, everything else was created in Adobe After Effects. The song I used was “Vletrmx21" by Autechre from the Tri Repetae++ album.

Who Are You? (2005) Approx. 1 min. and 32 sec.

A classically animated piece in which I created an absurd dialogue between two characters, much like a Dr. Seuss rhyme. This piece was screened at the annual year end media show at Emily Carr Institute of Art + Design + Media. I also submitted this piece to the 2.63 gigabytes DVD zine organized by Vasho Pekar. Information regarding the zine can be obtained from this site: http://www.vasho.ca/dvdzine

The Faucet (2006) Approx. 1 min. and 5 sec.

For this project, I first filmed myself turning on and off the water. In Adobe Premiere, I edited the footage so that it would appear as if the tap would turn on and off by itself. I then proceeded to draw puppet pieces for the ants and the fly that were later scanned in and alpha channelled in Adobe Photoshop. The ants and fly puppets were then animated in Adobe After Effects. This piece was screened at the annual year end media show at Emily Carr Institute of Art + Design + Media.

How Can I Breathe? (2006) Approx. 1 min.

I began this project by writing a short poem, which inspired the imagery for the short animation. All elements were drawn by hand then coloured with Adobe Photoshop, except for the human face of the flower. I filmed my sister’s face reading my poem and created an animated luma matte to blend it in with the rest of the flower. The music was made in FL Studio. This piece was screened at the annual year end media show at Emily Carr Institute of Art + Design + Media.

spinning in a mad frenzy . . . (2005) Approx. 1 min. and 30 sec.

With footage that I shot of a hand opening a door and a person riding a bicycle, I created a rotoscoped animation. The footage was rotoscoped in Adobe Photoshop with custom brushes to simulate a painted texture. I altered the preexisting sound effects in FL Studio to create my own sounds to accompany the piece. I submitted the piece to the 2.63gigabytes DVD zine organized by Vasho Pekar. Information regarding the zine can be obtained from this site: http://www.vasho.ca/dvdzine

In a Forest of Tall Trees (2006) Approx. 7 min.

Part 1
Part 2
Part 3

A classically animated piece about a young boy named Samuel living alone in a forest of tall trees, who awakes one morning to make a grave discovery. This, being my grad film, I had one school year to complete it. Colouring was done in Adobe Photoshop, compositing done in Adobe After Effects and editing of picture and sound was done in Adobe Premiere.
