The Syllabus and Homework assignments are posted in the MATH 265 File Cabinet.Would you like to see your grades? Try here. The Main page has the overall class statistics, while the Scores page will have your itemized scores (you can choose between the two views on the bottom of the spreadsheet). Miss a lecture? I will try to post summaries after each lecture. Included will be any assigned reading. You can always find the homework in the file cabinet.

Thursday, November 12
We gave a different way to compute the determinant of a 3x3 matrix and showed how to use the cross product to compute the area of a triangle given its vertices. We then defined the Jacobian of a transformation and used it to write down a general formula for changing variables in a double integral. |

Thursday, November 5
We defined the cross product as a solution to the problem of finding a vector orthogonal to two given vectors. We then used it to give a criterion for when two vectors are parallel and to find the area of a parallelogram. We stated some more properties, relating the cross product to the dot product and gave the right hand rule. |
