Office of Environmental Education Fund

Environmental Education Fund (A nonprofit that supports the Office of Environmental Education)
The State's proposed budget eliminates the Department of Natural Resources' Office of Environmental Education.

The Office of Environmental Education (OEE) provides North Carolinians with:
  • teacher training
  • environmental education (EE) certification
  • tree kits to elementary students
  • a guide to the state's environmental education centers
  • online resources
  • curricula
  • an EE library
  • and many more resources! check them out at their website.
The OEE is being eliminated in an effort to balance the state budget. However, eliminating the OEE would save only $377,000 a year out of the 3.4 billion dollar state budget gap.

The $377,000 budget for the OEE is not much--considering that the OEE has 7 staff members who reach out to students, parents, and citizens across all 100 North Carolina counties!

OEE's successes are well-documented, and education is the best method to prevent the degredation of our air, water, land, and communities.

Please help let your elected officials know how valuable this resource is by taking action.
