What's in a Name?

I have always loved the name Adaira.  I first encountered it in a book series when I was in high school.  However, it was spelled without an "i".  Seth and I decided to add the "i" for pronunciation purposes.  The book series is called the Belgariad and the Mallorean by David Eddings.  It is a fantasy series sort of  like The Lord of the Rings.  (Yes, I realize that I am a little dorky.  (giggles)  But hey, what did you expect?)

Joelee was chosen for several reasons.  I really wanted to have a name with "Jo".  We thought about several different ones, but Joelee seemed to be the most meaningful.  The "Joel" comes from my dad and the "Lee" comes from my great-grandfather.  Lee is also a family name on Seth's side of the family.  Jo is also the middle name of my grandmother whom I was very close to.  There are also several other "Jo"s in both families.  (Shirley Joanne--my mom, JoAnn-Seth's mom, John Day-Seth's dad, John Latty-my maternal great-uncle,...the list goes on...)

We will call her Adaira.  However, sometimes I like to call her Addy Jo.  This reminds me of my grandma (Betty Jo) and makes me smile.

A trivia tidbit:  If we had a boy, his name would have been Tristan John.  Tristan was one of the knights of the round table in the King Arthur legends.  John was Seth's dad's name.
