Staring at the Lenses
Staring at the Lenses
There was a pretty huge crowd during the Mayor's Thames Festival the last weekend. In some parts of the South Bank shooting with the long 70-200 was almost impossible: I would have hit the lens on someone's head. And I am not joking. Fabiana was highly undecided on the lens to use, so she swapped some times. This time she was handling the 18-85 IS USM. It was a pretty flexible lens for uses like this one, I decided to go for the 28mm. The only con of it is that the auto focus is abysmal, very slow. Not being able to focus manually (I should change the focusing screen) I went for the cheating f/8 800ISO manual focus 1m-infinite. The good thing about it is that I can really play around! In this shot Fabiana was just removing some drops of water from her lens with highly advanced lens cleaning tools (!). When I imported the photo I noticed the direct eye contact of the other girl in the frame: it adds interest to the whole in my opinion. On another note I would like to start a new personal project: Street Portraits. I am looking for people willing to be shot by me on the streets of London. The Street is the Studio and the real people are the Models. Are you interested? Contact me: I need your soul! :)

After 3 years in Flickr...
I've joined Flickr in December 13, 2004 with a free account, a point and shoot Kodak digital camera and lots of confusion about digital world. It was hard and painful for me to accept digital photography as a choice, but I closed my eyes to all the elegance of film and darkroom that I carried with me over 35 years, and did the jump. The first photos I post got the chance to get in first page of Explore and never moved or removed. After a year playing with my free account and the point and shoot, I finally got the courage to upgrade to pro account and a Canon 20-D with couple cheap lenses even one self altered FD lens!!!! These are my achivements after 3 years: 1855 posted photos... 1.8 photos per day!! 587 photos got the chance to be shown in Explore, not all of them survived...More than 31% of all my photos. 200 000 views on my stream.... almost 115 views per photo. 2360 people choose me as a friend, one of them later called me a photo thief !!! Thank you all my wonderful friends for the support and encouragement. I love you all.
