I Have Become the Duck Whisperer ~ Remember These Guys? Me and the girls have been raising these little ducks since they were about two days old. Mama Duck got run over by a car... So my daughters insisted we adopt the entire brood... or gaggle... or flock... or whatever you call a bunch of baby ducklings. I couldn't say no to three sets of 'sad eyes'. They're always gangin' up on me like that. We didn't have any clue about bein' Mama Ducks... but we learned as we went along... They're almost ready to be let go. They've got their real feathers now. They're pretty big. I'll miss their quacking in the yard. I'll miss watching the little one chase them around and scoop them up to give them hugs. My daughters have really impressed me with the attention and responsibility they've demonstrated in the care and raising of these little ducklings. In the second quarter of 2011, the demand for goods and services (actual GDP) was about $1.1 trillion (7 percent) less than what the economy was capable of supplying (potential GDP). This large output gap, which is manifested in a high rate of unemployment and substantial idle productive capacity among businesses, is the legacy of the Great Recession. Congressional Budget Office projections show the gap closing slowly over the next several years as actual GDP grows only moderately faster than potential GDP. GDP grew at a slow 1.3 percent annual rate in the second quarter. That’s slower than the growth in the economy’s potential to produce goods and services stemming from labor force and productivity increases.
