Stephen Fuzie, PT, ATC, Facility Director

 

Stephen Fuzie has degrees in Athletic Training and Exercise Physiology from Sacramento State University, and his Physical Therapy degree from the University of Pittsburgh. He later studied advanced physical therapy techniques at the University of Pittsburgh in the specialty areas of Manual Orthopaedic PT and Sports PT.  He has taught in both physical therapy and athletic training curriculums, and was Associate Faculty for the Texas Tech University School of Medicine in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery.  He currently serves on the Ethics Committee of the National Athletic Trainers Association, and lectures and writes about ethical issues in practice.  Among his many experiences, Stephen has served as Chief Athletic Trainer for Water Polo at the 1996 Olympics, served as a US Olympic Committee Drug Testing Crew Chief, and traveled with teams from USA Swimming and USA Track and Field as a physical therapist and athletic trainer.  He has also served as the Director of Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine for a well known geriatric hospital in Pittsburgh, PA, and as sports medicine director for a professional hockey club. Now as the manager and physical therapist of Active Care, he has the opportunity to share his 25 years of experience and professional expertise with patients and athletes of the Roseville community, where he resides, helping them to achieve their own goals and success.
Stephen enjoys the study of history, especially that of flight and airplanes, as well as animals and outdoor activities.

Monica Zimmer-Vargas, ATC, Athletic Trainer

 
Monica comes to Active Care after living in Southern Caliofrnia for a few years.  She was a college athlete at Humbolt state, playing basketball for the Lumberjacks.  She then completed her bachelors degree in Athletic Training at Sacramento State University before getting married and traveling to Europe.  Monica provides primary athlete care for William Jessup University athletic teams and for Woodcreek High School athletes. Monica also assists Steve and Allison with patient physical therapy treatment in the clinic at Active Care Physical Therapy.

Allison Dokken, PTA, Physical Therapist Assistant

Allison Dokken recieved her bachelors degree from Chico State in Kinesiology.  She is a certified personal trainer.  Allison also completed the Physical Therapy Assistant's Program at Sacremanto city College in May 2009, and is licensed by Caliofrnia as a Physical Therapist Assistant.  Allison is very active and likes to help her patients to improve their abilities to be active in their lifestyle.

Penne Duran, Patient Service Manager

 
Penne Duran is the Patient Services Manager for Active Care.  Penne is a graduate of Boise State University in Idaho, and has been a fixture at Active Care since it's opening.  Penne is the go to person for insurance and billing questions, is active in the community and with her family and pets..
