MISSION
The mission of the Lincoln Center Library is to support school curriculum and enable all students to:
POLICY Q&A
How many books can I have checked out at a time?
You may have 2 books checked out at a time.
How long can I keep a library book?
You can keep a library book for 2 weeks.
What if I finish my book before it is due?
First of all, “Hooray for you!” Then you have a few options. You could:
- Return the book to the library in the morning before class starts, or during the day on your way out to recess.
- Ask your teacher for permission to come to the library during free class time. (Your teach can call extension 247 to make sure there is a staff member in the library.) Then you can return the book and check out another one.
- Wait to return your book to the library when you come for your weekly visit.
What if I do not finish my book before it is due?
- We can probably renew the book for you, or check it out to you again.
- If someone else has made a request, or asked, for the same book you have, we ask that you please finish it ASAP—as soon as possible.
- You can renew a book 2 times if there are no other requests for it. That means you could possibly keep a book for 6 weeks!
Original check out + 1st renewal + 2nd renewal = 6 weeks
2 weeks + 2 weeks + 2 weeks
- But do try and return it as soon as possible so other students can enjoy it, too.
What if I forget to return my book by the due date?
- It's kind of like you are stealing--you are stealing the opportunity for other students to check out and enjoy the book, too.
-
You will be able to check out one other book. However, if you have a book that has been overdue for more than three weeks, you will not be allowed to check out any other books.
-
Overdue notices may be sent home periodically.
What if my library book gets damaged or lost?
- Please let the library know immediately so we can determine the best course of action and get you checking out books again.
- A replacement cost may be assessed for lost or damaged materials. If a lost book is returned in good condition within the same school year it was lost, a full refund will be given.
- Take good care of your books and you shouldn’t have to worry about this! Remember, you are responsible for what you borrow.
- Students who habitually lose books and do not pay for them will be limited to using books only in the library.
