EDIT: The Metro supermarket didn't close, it moved to a larger new location up the hill along Don Quichotte, which must have killed pedestrian traffic to the store from Pincourt since I can't imagine walking up that steep hill just to buy Diet Coke and frozen pizza. Anyway, I don't feel like rewriting the rest of this caption, so just ignore references to the Metro having gone out of business. Carrefour Don Quichotte, located on Don Quichotte Boulevard in Ile- Perrot, just southwest of Sainte Anne de Bellevue on the southwestern tip of Montreal Island, was built around 1994. Originally, the anchor store was a Provigo supermarket, but Provigo sold it to Metro within a year or so of opening, and it operated under the Metro banner for a decade, though, at some point between the time I moved away from Pincourt in December 2004 and the time I took the source photos for this Autostitch in early April, 2008, this Metro went out of business, and the supermarket space still remained vacant when my brother visited Pincourt and Ile- Perrot a couple of weeks ago. A bit of a shame, I personally preferred this Metro location to the one in Pincourt. I guess it lost a lot of business when the mega-sized IGA store opened a little further down Don Quichotte Boulevard around the end of 2003. (There was an IGA store competing with this Metro before 2003, but it was in a much smaller location.) Also, the empty storefront at the left of this panorama was a Dunkin' Donuts franchise that closed and reopened under new management at least twice.
