Amalayan Winery

Since not a ton of people know how to work this thing, here's a quick rundown of how to work the Winery. Though this thing certainly has the elements of a quest (go look for stuff, making something of it, etc.), it doesn't give you experience at the end, per se, but a nice wineskin full of 20 sips worth of wine. Hence, it gets slotted here instead of the Quests section. So all you cheap boozehounds with time to kill, listen up!

To Get to the Amalayan Winery:
From the room in Jaru that leads WEST into the Pash, go W U W NW SW N. This will have you end up at the Amalayan Winery's front door.

Step One: Get your bearings of the winery. E E from the entrance leads to the room with the pressing vat, and then the fermentation room, respectively. Read the plaques to get a basic idea to what elements are involved in the winemaking.

To the N of the entrance is the room that leads into the looping set of rooms that house the wildflowers. In case you get lost in the loopage, just go W from the room of white flowers to get back to regular, non-looping grounds.

Far west of the entrance is where some bloke sells a selection of Amalayan wines, food, and eagle-shaped bikkies. He doesn't do much. Just buy food off him or something. *g*

Step Two: Get the ingredients. You need 6 ingredients IN ALL, as the pressing vat requires this number of items to work at all. The only ingredients workable with are the flowers from the winery and the fruit from the nearby orchard and vinyard.

To get the flowers, go N E from the Amalayan entrance. PULL FLOWER when you see a room with the type of flower you like. Mind you, if you're going to get multiple flowers, put the other flowers in a container, or else you'll spent time just PULLing the same flower over and over again.

To get grapes, S from the entrance will put you on a sandstone walkway. E or W into the vinyard (which also loops a bit, mind you), then PULL VINE to get a batch of grapes. About 5 grapes can be plucked from one room when they're "fresh". These grapes (like the other fruit from the orchard we'll get to) are eatable, but don't even last as long as many other quest items. So eat 'em fast if you need to, or do the winemaking quicklike!

To get to the other fruit (blackberries, raspberries, strawberries, lemons, plums, peaches, apples, cherries), you'll have to go S NE 2W NW W NE or so to get to the entrance of the fruit orchard. When you're a room with fruit (you'll know by the room title), PULL (thing), according to what the fruit grow on (they are: PULL TREE, PULL PLANT or PULL BUSH). The rose bush is a dud, so don't try PULL FLOWER or anything there. *g*

Step Three: Once you have your 6 chosen ingredients, head back to the Winery entrance, and go one E into the room with the pressing vat. Put all 6 ingredients into the vat, then JUMP GRAPES 10x or until a message comes up that they're all nice and squished.

(Random Note: Yes, those grapes are semi-sentient. Yes, you can attack them, and they will attack back, and damn fast at that. But they're unkillable, hence that one hilarious deathsight where a newbie was killed by some grapes.)

Step Four: Once they're squished, get the metal pot from the next room to the E from the machine (usually it's still on the floor of the same room as the vat, which is good and saves you trouble), take it back W into the vat room, DROP POT, then PULL LEVER 3x until the bucket is full.

Step Five: Get the pot, then PUT POT IN MACHINE in the room E from the vat room. PULL LEVER 3x again, until the juices in the pot strain into the barrel.

Step Six: Pick a spice (any spice) from the rack (not yours) and PUT (spice) IN BARREL.

Step Seven: SIT for 5 RL minutes until a message pops up about the wine now being settled.

Step Eight: Stand up, GET DUST FROM POUCH then PUT DUST IN BARREL.

Step Nine: SIT for another 5 RL minutes, until a message pops up about the wine being fully fermented.

Step Ten: Get your drunken arse off the ground, GET WINESKIN, DRINK FROM WINESKIN and enjoy your weak yet plentiful wine. It lasts about 15 minutes, so booze up! =D

As always, rinse and repeat. Slainte!
