AMERICAN GUNDOG CLUB Field Trials

The American Gundog Club (http://www.americangundogclub.com/) has started running British

style field trials to help promote the british retrievers that so many of us have become to

enjoy and love. These trials are setup to mock what our dog's have been bred to do for so

long. The trials are a test of the true britsh traits that I feel we

should be promoting in the breed.

We will be hosting our 1st anual AGC Trial on October 30,2010

We will also be hosting a Judging Seminar on October 29,2010

Our trial will be hosted on the grounds of Antlers and Wings

(
http://antlersandwings.com/). We will be starting early in hopes of having the trial

fininshed by lunch. There will be plate lunches available at the trial site.

After lunch there will be a competition sporting clay shoot. Team WildWings

(
http://teamwildwings.com/ ) will be

hosting a trial on October 31, 2010 within an hour drive of our trial location. This will

be a great opportunity to run two trials in one weekend.

Robin Watson from
http://tibeagundogs.com/ and Tom Hamilton from

http://www.brackenfen.com/ will be hosting our judging seminar and mock upland field trial

on October 29, 2010. We will be posting entry fees and

starting times by August 1,2010.

There will be two different hunt scenerios in the trial. The 1st will be mocking an

upland drive. There will be between 4 and 6 dogs in a line driving across the field at

once. As game is harvested you and your dog will be expected to pick when you are cued by

the judge. The second hunt scenerio will be a southern waterfowl hunt.

There will be boats, decoys, and calling during the harvest.

A smooth operating efficient handling dog will excell in the trial. Honoring numerous

dogs and long term memory marking will be a big part of the event.

Please feel free to email us at
aceberry@live.com with any questions or comments.

If you own or are thinking of purchasing a British Retriever I strongly encourage you to attend and see what they were selectively bred to do. The whole idea behind this is to give the British dog owner something to do with their dog outside of hunting season and with the help and support of British retriever owners, trainers, and breeders we hope to build this to a big enough level to start titling British Retrievers in the United States. This is going to need your help and support so that we can reach our goal.

The credit points will help move your dog up in the trial. The major faults will not eliminate your dog, but will move your dog lower in the trial. The eliminating faults will keep your dog from placing in the trial.
