secret # 6/30 - i love expensive bed linens **so, no secrets for the past two days. i got a NASTY virus on my computer and spent the weekend trying to make sure everything was backed up and then re-installing vista (blech!) and all my applications. just so everyone knows, i am not a windows user except for my need to use PS CS3. i'm a dyed-in-the-wool linux girl. =] but yeah. i am not a person with expensive tastes...in most things. there are some things, however, that need to be well-made and high quality or what's the point? we spend roughly a third of our lives in our beds, either asleep OR if we have cheap, scratchy sheets then tossing and turning and being generally uncomfortable. buy the good ones!! i can't understand spending $30 on a set of burlap sheets that you're going to sleep on every single night. sleep is our rejuvenation period. it's how we refuel both our bodies and our minds in preparation for the next day's hassles, hard work and heartbreaks. science is now beginning to uncover the correlation between lack of, or a reduced amount of, restful sleep and heart disease among other things. in other words, if you're not getting enough of the deep sleep we all require to function properly, you may be shortening your life significantly. i care about that, sure. but i also care about how freaking incredible it feels to slide between thick, buttery 600 thread count (at least!!) sheets after a long day. they're expensive in comparison to burlap, yes. but if taken care of properly, these things will last nearly a lifetime. this is an investment that is WELL worth the initial outlay of cash. **
